For the first time the DPR rejected a public official nominee proposed by the government. The BI Governor’s election must be concluded within two weeks.

THERE were no surprises at the plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR) last Tuesday. The DPR persisted in turning down the two candidates for Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) proposed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, namely CEO of Bank Mandiri, Agus Martowardojo, and Deputy CEO of the Asset Management Company, Raden Pardede.
