Minister of Agriculture and Plantations Bungaran Saragih attributes the drop in the price of unhusked rice solely to the low quality of farmers’ produce. In the opinion of the 56-year-old Pematangsiantar-born official, farmers should strive to achieve a certain level of quality of unhusked rice so they can sell their dry harvest unhusked rice (GKP) at the maximum price of Rp1,095 per kilogram.
