THE sounds of the New Year trumpets and the end of year celebrations were clearly not enough to make investment managers and owners of mutual funds forget the trauma that has haunted the industry during the last few months. The gloom hanging over the future of mutual funds, which dates back to the third quarter of 2005, is altogether too real to just be considered as something quite commonplace.
