THREE days before the end of last year, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono held a marathon cabinet meeting. This was held at the presidential complex in Central Jakarta, and for some six hours the President discussed the work agenda for this year with his ministers.

One of the main points of discussion during this cabinet plenary session, on Wednesday evening last week, certainly involved the Indonesian economy. This is understandable, given that
