In the future, Telkom and Indosat will not be alone in telecommunications competition. The state-owned electricity company, PLN, may also emerge as a strong rival. This is attributable to technology enabling the passage of phone links through cables. With a fiber optic network extending from Banten to Surabaya at its disposal, PLN has the potential for business diversification beyond the sphere of electricity. It can even be a major challenge to
