The government plans to restructure bad debts under the farm credit program (KUT) totaling Rp6 trillion. Based on reports, however, farmers will not likely benefit.

Slamet's sorrow is probably somewhat lessened by a gift from the government. He and his farmer friends from Kemeranjen village in Banyumas regency, which was hit by a flood and storm, have probably heard of the government's generosity in giving a 25-50 percent reduction on their principal debt and writing off interest and penalties on late payments of loans.
With such a gift, Slamet need no longer worry about how he's going to repay the Rp900,000
