Following public controversy and pressure, the government has finally reduced the number of luxury cars to be imported in connection with the G-15 Summit Conference in May. It will only import 50 cars rather than 400 as originally planned.
The 400-car import plan indeed invited strong reaction. Firstly, it was seen as an extravagance amid the prevailing crisis. And secondly, it reeked of fraud.
