PESANTREN producing businessmen? Why not? Today, pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) are no longer associated with santris (students) dressed in sarong and peci and carrying antiquated yellowed books. Subjects taught are no longer limited to religion, but include the worldly theory and practice of good business. Daarut Tauhiid in Bandung and Darul Falah in Bogor, both in West Java, are two examples of such pesantren.
