One Step Away from Monopoly
State-owned PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom to you) is negotiating to buy back an operational contract with Pramindo Ikat Nusantara Company. If it succeeds, Telkom’s monopoly on telephones will reign supreme.

Before long, Telkom will regain control of fixed telephone lines throughout Indonesia. That is presently the discussion between Telkom and PT Pramindo Ikat Nusantara. If an agreement is reached, Telkom will buy back the operational contract (KSO) for Sumatra region from Pramindo Ikat. The buyback agreement is expected to be finalized before Telkom’s general shareholders meeting, scheduled for March or April next year.
