Sunaryoto, a truck driver on the way to Semarang, Central Java, said he had been held up for five hours. Despite using the Sumatra-Java Crossing often, despair still hits him every time there's a prospect of passing the Sumatra road. "The roads are always like this, continually severely damaged," he told Tempo in July.
