Freeport Resumes ore Exports

After a long dispute with the government, Freeport's Indonesia unit has resumed copper concentrate exports from its mine in Papua. Rozik Soetjipto, CEO of Freeport Indonesia, said his firm would send off 750,000 tons by year's end.

The government had used an escalated tax to make it prohibitively expensive for the US mining giant to export metal concentrates because the company had yet to build a smelter. Final
