Cilacap's Sudden Refinery Overhaul

ACTIVITY at Central Java's Cilacap refinery complex on Jalan M.T. Haryono had visibly increased late last week. More workers went in and out, some of them on heavy equipment carrying loads of spare parts. State oil and gas company Pertamina was just starting a major repair and maintenance program.

The program was scheduled to take a month. "Around 5,000 workers will be involved," Pertamina Cilacap spokesman Musriyadi told Tempo. The refinery, last repaired in July 2010, also produces non-fuel products such as petrochemicals.
