The House of Representatives (DPR) asks that the fuel consumption level be set at 55.01 million kiloliters next year. Pertamina calculates that demands will actually reach 56.7 million kiloliters. Can smuggling be stopped by reducing production? Or will fuel suddenly be scarce again like this year?

The old story keeps on repeating itself, just like it did throughout this year. Out of the blue, without warning, fuel (BBM) becomes rare. As a result, drivers in cities must line up for hours at gas stations just to fill up. In the meantime, housewives in villages must use firewood because kerosene all of a sudden disappears from the market. Even if it's available, the price is sky high.
