Should We Worry About The Rupiah?

Last week, two events raised questions on whether the rupiah's Rp13,000 per US dollar comfort zone can be maintained. First, it was last month's US$3,9 billion decline in the country's foreign currency reserves to US$111,6 billion. Although still sufficient, it shows that the cost of stabilizing the rupiah doesn't come cheap and also raises concern as to how far these efforts can be maintained.
