A 10-hectare plot at the National Nuclear Energy Agency (Batan) at the Research Center for Science and Technology (Puspiptek) in South Tangerang, Banten, is still covered in weeds. There were no signs of construction activity at the site two weeks ago when Tempo stopped by.
According to a recently released plan, however, the plot is set to be the home of Indonesia's first nuclear reactor, to be installed with a capacity of 10 megawatts (MW). There are plans to increase that capacity to 30 MW.
