Last week, Bank Indonesia transferred BII to the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) to be recapitalized for a second time.

THE second recapitalization of Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII) cannot be avoided. It has been already been predicted that BII will not be able to meet Bank Indonesia's minimum 8 percent Adequacy Ratio (CAR) requirement before the end of this year. Without a new injection of capital, BIIthe bank formerly dominated by the family of business magnate Eka Tjipta Widjayawill have to be closed down.
