THERE was a really wide smile on the face of Chairul Tanjung, the controlling shareholder in Bank Mega. After a great deal of uncertainty, his prospective partner John Gokongwei eventually arrived in Jakarta last week. Chairul has been awaiting the arrival of Gokongwei to beef up his consortium that wants to buy 51 percent of the governments shares in Bank Danamon Indonesia. This joint venture with Bhakti Capital Indonesia and Credit Suisse First
