LAST week's motorcycle safari from Jakarta to a number of cities on the Island of Java attracted a deal of attention. Its objective: to gather a million signatures. Not in the interests of bolstering national togetherness, or of a movement for the renewal of a particular political party, but rather to reject the hypermarkets now mushrooming in many large cities, and particularly Jakarta.
