Black Stamps for Polluters
The government has created stamps for firms that stubbornly pollute the environment. But the criteria used by appraisers are questioned by environment activists.

ON a corner in Jrakah, not much life was left. A heap of slag stood conspicuously. It was pitch-black. The heap packed the corner of land owned by PT General Yaja Steel, a smelter company without a name board in Jrakah, Semarang. It was even higher than the plots 1.5-meter fences. Part of the waste overflowed onto the agricultural area outside the railings, covering the rice field nearby.
