THE journey from Sukabumi has drained its stamina. Its muscles are stiff after spending nearly five hours inside a box. The Brahminy Kite—called by locals elang bondol—is reluctant to leave the box although it is already opened upon arrival on Kotok Island in the Thousand Islands. Apparently, the bird needs to relax its muscles first to be able to fly again on the 20-hectare island, which serves as a rehabilitation center for birds of prey.
