CORAL reefs are groupings of thousands of corals that have functioned as the habitat for various fish as well as other marine animals. The group of static animals are categorized as the oldest ecosystem on earth. The forming of coral reefs requires between 5,000 and 10,000 years. Commonly, the existing reefs have been living for more than 10,000 years.
