YUSWANTO kept looking at the Javan Hawk-eagle (Spizaetus bartelsi) hovering over the large hollow ground in Wotanmas Jedong village, Ngoro, Mojokerto regency, East Java. Occasionally the hawk perched on a small branch growing out of the 25-hectare-wide hollow. “The hawk may not even visit our village once a month,” said a state secondary school teacher in Mojokerto.
