THE sun beat down on the lands of Parahyangan causing sweat to flow and eyes to squint. But, Tuesday afternoon last week, hundreds of kindergarten students gathered at the Babakan Siliwangi forest were not overheated. The big trees, like mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) and papua pines (Cupressus papuanus), make the air always feel cool.

Accompanied by parents and teachers, the children busily planted seedlings so that the neighborhood of Lebak Si
