Researchers predict a repeat of the mammoth Central Sulawesi earthquakes of 1907 and 1909. Some have criticized their methodology.

IT was 4am on July 30, 1907, when a great earthquake shook Central Sulawesi.
"One hundred and sixty-four houses were reportedly destroyed and 49 storehouses in Kulawi collapsed," wrote E.C. Abendanon, a Dutch geologist, in his notes, later turned into a book titled Voyages Geologiquea et Geographiques A Travers La Celebes Centrale (Geology and Geography in Central Celebes).
