Bojonegoro won a national award for flood management. Local officials have built hundreds of water catchments, but that was only the beginning.

Villagers from Bendo in Bojonegoro regency, East Java, no longer fear running out of clean water in the dry season. Since 2010, Bendo has had a six-hectare water catchmentan area where water is collected by the natural landscapecalled Embung Grobogan.
