Singapore'S New Haze Law to Fine Errant Companies S$2M
Singapore's parliament approved penalties of up to S$2 million for 'errant entities' that cause haze pollution in the city-state, part of its new Transboundary Haze Law which applies even to foreign companies with no presence or assets in Singapore.
Companies or individuals shown to be at least circumstantially responsible for smoke that drives Singapore's air pollutants standards index to 'unhealthy' levels will be fined up to S$100,000 per day, unless they can prove their innocence.
