Pet Trade Imperils 13 Bird Species

A new study blames the domestic pet industry for threatening the survival of 13 bird species in Indonesia.

The study, which focuses on birds endemic to Java, Bali, Sumatra and Kalimantan, includes the iconic Javan Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi), of which just 300-500 are thought to remain in the wild.
