Why Indonesian Conservation Needs Independent Science
The system of open, transparent, and independent science is being undermined in Indonesia. What the country needs in the current biodiversity conservation crisis is the best information possible, not an alternative reality.

BIODIVERSITY conservation is a crisis discipline. Similar to an emergency ward in a hospital, the right decisions need to be taken, and need to be taken fast. Which patients are in most critical condition and thus most urgently require treatment? Lives are at stake and there is no room for error. Surgeons need to get it right.
Global biodiversity conservation is no different—we must get it right, or lives will be lost!
