LARGE boulders from the summit of Mount Marapi rolled down almost simultaneously as far as seven kilometers into the Lembah Anai (Anai Valley). The volcanic materials from the eruption were carried by flash floods triggered by continuous heavy rain throughout Saturday night, May 11. The ‘cold lava’ then hit the villages on the slopes of the mountain, including Bukik Batabuah in Candung subdistrict, Agam Regency, West Sumatra.
