SUMOKRITI'S eyes glisten with tears. Staring at his home at the edge of Roomo village's Roomo River, located in the Manyar District of Gresik Regency, East Java, this feeble 99-year-old grandfather is unable to hold back his tears. All that remains of his 4x8-meter dwelling is black debris and a strong burning smell. All was destroyed after a chemical tank exploded at PT Petrowidada.

Last Tuesday's factory explosion was massive. With flames sho
