Indonesia in the Veranda of Cannes

Two films, Serambi and Berbagi Suami, were screened at the Cannes Festival, marking increasing interest in Indonesia.

THE nuances of Aceh spread at the Cannes Film Festival two weeks ago. Just before the entrance to the Debussy Theater, there was a performance of didong traditional art from Aceh. Inside the theater building, there were also performances of Acehnese dances and songs. Then Thierry Fremaux took to the stage, introducing the movie Serambi (Veranda) to the audience, in the presence of producer Christine Hakim and several directors of the film.
