During the more than 20 years that Daniel Ziv has lived in Indonesia, it has been one fascinating discovery after another, resulting in the book Jakarta Inside Out and the award-winning documentary Jalanan, a social commentary on the nation.

IT took nearly five years for Ziv to shoot his feature-length documentary Jalanan ('Streetside'), a story about three street musicians in Jakarta. Released in 2013, it spotlights Boni, Titi and Ho in their search for life, love and identity in the highly urbanized capital city. But on a deeper level, Jalanan paints a portrait of Indonesia seen from the eyes of its ordinary residents.
