Water for Electricity

Many regions in Indonesia remain beyond the reach of PLNs power lines. Although still far from sufficient, some locals have devised their own power generators by taking advantage of available natural resources.

WHEN there is no rain, Sumber Agung village is just two hours' travel by car from Central Kota Agung, capital of Tanggamus regency, Lampung. That changes when rain falls continuously in the region. The village, situated at the far end of the South Bukit Barisan National Park, may well be very hard to reach.
