THE little girl, dressed in rags, was moving sprightly around. She was about 12 years old, and she stood by carefully watching all the visitors who had just come out of the shopping center for cheap goods on Silk Street. The little child who had just reached the threshold of adolescence ran close to the door leading into the entrance gates of the shopping center resembling the markets of Tanah Abang in Jakarta or Turi in Surabaya.
