The European War in Java
A battle between the French and the English broke out at Jatinegara in August 1811. The battle lines between the troops of Napoleon and the British stretched from Cilincing, North Jakarta to Jatingaleh, Semarang. Jean Rocher, a retired French marine colonel, has revived the story of this battle which had been forgotten for two centuries.
