Return Of the Missing

Juliao Suarez alias Muhammad Yanto Soarez, 30, seemed confused. His gaze was vacant. For 22 years, he had not stepped foot in Timor-Leste, the land of his birth. That day, Monday, May 19, a Sriwijaya Air plane had carried him from Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, to Dili's Komoro Airport in Timor-Leste, en route to his home village of Bikaren, in Viqueque District. He was accompanied by National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) commissioner Sandra Moniaga and a figure from the Timor-Leste Asia Justice and Rights (AJAR) team. Soon, he would be reunited with his birth family.
