A light rain fell in Nusa Dua, Bali, as oil and gas officials from China began their dinner, accompanied by a Balinese Puspawresti dance. The event, held two years ago, was also attended by a number of Indonesian businessmen.

Despite not operating in the oil and gas sector, a number of them in attendance were indirectly involved in pushing through a 20-year contract for the sale of gas to Fujian, through their lobbying of Chinese officials. It is
