Two Interpretations of Puputan
I GUSTI Ngurah Made Agung led an all-out war against the Dutch. The event is remembered as Puputan. The month of September saw its centennial which was merrily celebrated by the Denpasar Palace (Puri). Another interpretation of the event has been brought to public knowledge. It says that Puputan was not a war supported by many people. It is thought that I Gusti Ngurah Made Agungs action of killing the royal family does not need to be excessively celebrated as an act of heroism.
