THE grand meeting ended when sirens of the tsunami early warning system blared in Banda Aceh early last June. Several former Free Aceh Movement (GAM) leaders hurried to leave the Haj Boarding House, the meeting’s site. Among them were Malik Mahmud, Muzakir Manaf, Nur Djuli, and Sofyan Dawood. There were also Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf and Sabang Mayor Munawarliza Zein, both of whom won the regional heads elections at the end of last year as no
