What must the provinces do to survive the changeover to regional autonomy? Maybe they must follow the law of the jungle—eat anything to survive. Regional economic independence must be developed using any means, regardless of the risks involved. As the regulations on regional autonomy continue to be hammered out, the ‘clash’ between central and regional governments is coming to a head.

East Kutai is an example of such conflict.
