According to archeologist-anthropologist, Prof. John N. Miksic, artifacts theft is nothing new in Southeast Asia. This crime also happens in Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar. Miksic, who holds a doctorate in anthropology from Cornell University in the US and conducted digs in Singapore, the Dieng Plateau, Chinatown in North Sumatra, Borobudur, Trowulan, Ratu Boko and Selowerto in Java, once wrote a book titled Old Javanese Gold.
