IT is written in history that tayub first emerged during the Kediri Kingdom period in 11th century. It developed in East and Central Java, and was recorded in the old Javanese poetry of Kakawin Bharata Yudha, by Mpu Sedhah and Mpu Panuluh in the Javanese year of 1079 (AD 1157) This work paints an image of the Pandawa taking part in a tayub dance.
