TVRI: A Losing Project
THIS is the story of Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI), the oldest television station in the country. Last February, the TVRI workers union reported alleged corruption within the state-owned enterprise to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). They claim that the misuse of funds has caused TVRI to bear billions of rupiah in losses.
Last Thursday, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) presented a similar report to the KPK: allegedly there was inflation of prices in the procurement of equipment. THE complaint was sent to five institutions: the Office of the State Minister for State-Owned Enterprises, the KPK, the Office of the Minister of Communications & Information, the House of Representatives (DPR) and several non-government organizations.
