Peruri’s Extravagance at BI’s Expense

PERUM Peruri purchased three units of banknote printing machines from Switzerland in 2005 and 2006. This investment is now being brought up for discussion because the price of these new machines is twice as much as the Japanese-manufactured ones. The difference in price between the two printers reaches Rp187.5 billion. As a result of Peruri’s “royal” demands, the production cost of every single banknote has escalated. Even Bank Indonesia is upset about it.
