The online electricity bill payment administration fees introduced in 2000 violated many regulations, including not seeking the approval of the House of Representatives. Tempo's investigation even found indications of violations against the Anticorruption Law. THE amount would make anyone drool: Rp42.5 billion per month. In a year, it will be more than half a trillion and enough to purchase four turbines of the same class as the power plant in Borang, South Sumatra. That's the additional fee paid by around 17 million-of a total of around 40 million-customers of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) or the State Electricity Company, who use the online payment service via banks.
