THE crucial confession was: "I was the one who planted the bomb in Medan in 1998." It was Yanto (not his real name) who confessed this to a TEMPO reporter. He said he also acted with a friend, 'Zakir.' The bomb was assembled at Yanto's house on the outskirts of Medan. "I wore gloves so I wouldn't leave fingerprints." This statement is supported by another perpetrator, 'Edwin.' He was the one who recruited Yanto and Zakir as accomplices. But their involveme
