TORTURE takes place in the Police Academy in various forms. A new class of cadets is always the target of their seniors. The smallest violation of any kind can trigger acts of violence. A cadet who is late when he is called by a senior can be severely beaten. As this has become tradition, each form of violence has a special name among seniors. To repeatedly hit the right and left cheeks of a victim is called kipas cenderawasih (cenderawasih fan).
