A Step Forward of Ecocide to Be Tried at the International Criminal Court
Vanuatu's resolution to the United Nations on the obligation of states to preserve the climate will pave the way for ecocide to be brought to the International Criminal Court.

A SEVERE storm hit Vanuatu, a small island nation in the Pacific, in early March. Cyclone Kevin, a category 4 storm, from the highest category 5, hit buildings, damaged roads, and cut off power across the country. Three days earlier, this country had just been hit by Cyclone Judy, which attacked the capital city of Port Vila and forced some residents to evacuate.
The government of Vanuatu declared a state of emergency over the storm. “For u
