Children are not the possessions of parents
A NUMBER of incidents involving serious child abuse these past few months has caused Seto Mulyadi, 55, to travel extensively. The man familiarly known as Kak (elder brother) Seto had to fly all the way to Canada to be an expert witness in a trial involving a case of violence against the children of an Indonesian family.

Another time, Seto had to go to the corners of a kampung in the Tanjung Priok area of North Jakarta. There he visited Siti Ihtiatus Soleha, an 8-year-old girl who was living with her grandmother. She was seeking refuge from her own father, who had been torturing her. In an attempt to soothe her, Seto spent a whole hour telling her the story of Pak Buaya (Mr. Crocodile).
