MUHAMMAD Yunus has dedicated years of his life to Bangladesh, to 150 million of its citizens, in particular the poor and the destitute. He helps them escape from a life of poverty, through an ingeniously innovative microcredit program aimed at providing the poor with the means to break free from the avaricious clutches of the village moneylenders.

Jobra, an isolated village outside Chittagong, in the southeast of Bangladesh, is where Yunus first
